Libya COVID-19 Case Study

September 10, 2020

The NGS Operations Team was contacted by a Lloyds Broker on behalf of a large international client of theirs with a patient who had recently been diagnosed with symptomatic COVID-19 in Benghazi, Libya. The patient’s condition at the time was stable, but slowly deteriorating, and an upgrade in care was urgently required. The request was previously sent to another assistance provider, however, due to ambiguity around immigration and entry permissions in the patient’s country of residence, they failed to assist.

NGS contracted the assistance of a European provider with pan-European operations for assistance in obtaining the necessary clearances and permissions to move the patient to upgraded care in his home country. While the arrangements and clearances were being obtained, the NGS Medical Team provided support through TeleMedicine Consultations through the Operations Team for further support and care of the patient.  NGS, with the assistance of a trusted partner, were able to clarify the authorisations required, and the patient was transported to Athens via Malta in a COVID Secure Air Ambulance Evacuation.

Due to NGS’ Network of trusted regional and local providers, a solution was made taking into account the current restrictions in place, complications of COVID-19 Positive Transportation and a successful mission was performed.

“I wanted to write to thank you personally and to convey the gratitude of my client for the sterling work put in by NGS… Your Ops room have not put a foot wrong and Una’s support in particular was enormously helpful. This was a very complicated case, particularly when picking it up where you did.”
